- Title
POLITICAL RESPONSES TO SUPREME COURT DECISIONS.
- Authors
Hamilton, Marci A.
- Abstract
An essay looking at the intent behind the selection of republicanism instead of direct democracy as a form of government in the U.S. is presented. It is inferred that the legislators who gathered for the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania chose republicanism because of their lack of fondness for the citizens of the country. The responses of the republican and direct democratic processes to Supreme Court cases Kelo versus City of New London and Employment Division versus Smith are examined.
