- Abstract
The article discusses the creation of the Hill of the Buddha, a landscape project in the Makomanai Takino Cemetery in Sapporo, Japan. The cemetery is one of the largest privately managed memorial parks in Japan and contains various stone monuments from different ages and places. The project aimed to blend these monuments with their surroundings and design a worship facility for a 13.5-meter-tall stone Buddha. The Buddha was buried up to its head in a lavender-covered hill, and visitors can only see its face after passing through a tunnel. The project was completed with the efforts of various individuals and organizations.
