- Abstract
The use of biofertilizers in agriculture is a practice that makes it possible to reuse different residues. Studies that evaluate the viability of different sources of nutrients and the appropriate dose to be applied have been developed in order to determine the most suitable biofertilizer for each culture. Thus, the work aimed to evaluate the effects of the application of different doses of quail biofertilizer on the growth of yellow gold melon plants. The study was carried out in an experimental area belonging to the Agrometeorological Station of the Federal University of Ceará, in Fortaleza, Ceará, Brazil (coordinates: 03°44'43 "S; 38°34'51" W), from September to October 2019. An experiment with a randomized block design was carried out by applying five weekly doses of quail biofertilizer (D1 = 650 mL; D2 = 487 mL; D3 = 325 mL; D4 = 162 mL and D5 = 0 mL), equivalent to the recommended fertilization for the culture of melon, with eight repetitions. At 30 days after transplanting, the grown parameters of stem length, stem diameter, number of leaves, leaf area, fresh matter of the aerial part, and fresh matter of the root were evaluated. The results suggest that the application of quail biofertilizer provides increases in the development of the melon plants evaluated, with doses 1 and 2 being those that made possible the best results for the culture.
