- Abstract
In high school, biochemistry is seen by students as complex, with challenging terms and processes. Added to this, in current times of pandemic, many challenges arise to make virtual classes more captivating and motivating. In the literature, several authors report the use of practical activities in order to promote a better contextualization of teaching and instigate student learning. In this sense, the main objective of this work is to facilitate the learning of concepts related to Biochemistry and other areas of Biology with the proposal of a practical activity in the determination of starch through 5% lugol in everyday foods, applied to school students high school in the discipline of Biology. In the second part of the class, the salivary amylase test on starch degradation in bananas is proposed, correlating with aspects related to proteins and enzymes. Thus, it is not necessary to have a laboratory equipped to carry out the proposed experimental activity, allowing students to replicate it in their homes upon prior explanation or demonstration by the teacher, using simple and low-cost materials. After completing the activity, students will have their results noted and sent to the teacher for future discussions. As the main impact, the proposed activity allows bringing Biochemistry closer to the students' daily lives, facilitating its contextualization, in addition to promoting the perspective of scientific experimentation.
