- Title
The Next Step in Librarianship: Is The Traditional Library Dead?
- Authors
Ogunsola, L. A.
- Abstract
The article presents a study done in 2011 at Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile-Ife, Nigeria which looks at the evolving role of the librarian, stating that, while users can connect to a library electronically and do not have to be physically present at the library building to access its contents, they still need assistance in locating information they want. It focuses on librarians having to become educators, teaching users how to locate information both in the library and online, and defines them as information managers.
