- Abstract
The article assesses the reliability of the instrument Health Care for Dementia: the Primary Care perspective, in versions for doctors and nurses. A correlational study was conducted in Basic Health Units of the Family Health Strategy belonging to the municipality of São Paulo, Brazil. The sample consisted of 87 doctors and 132 nurses working in the selected Units. Reliability was assessed by means of item stability (test-retest). Data collection was performed by the self-application of the instrument by professionals and the retesting step occurred on the 14th day after the test. The results revealed that 86.0% of the instrument's items have stability between strong and almost perfect/high; 13.3%, moderate stability and 0.7%, regular. These results allow us to indicate its use to identify the educational needs of doctors and nurses in Primary Health Care in monitoring dementias.
