- Abstract
Shauna Morrison, from the Earth and Planets Laboratory at the Carnegie Institution for Science, has accepted the Mineralogical Society of America Award for 2023. In her acceptance speech, she expresses her gratitude and honor for being recognized by the society. Morrison acknowledges the mentors and advocates who have influenced her career, including her professors at Georgia Southwestern and Bob Downs at the University of Arizona. She also thanks the MSL CheMin team, Bob Hazen, Peter Fox, and her collaborators for their contributions to her scientific journey. Morrison highlights the importance of data science in mineralogy and Earth and planetary science, and she dedicates her work in mineral informatics to the memory of Peter Fox. She concludes by expressing her appreciation to Rutgers EPS faculty, her collaborators in different fields, and the support she has received from Carnegie.
