High-wet-modulus rayon fibers are expected to account for 150 to 200 million pounds of the total U. S. production of regenerated cellulosic fibers (a billion pounds a year) in 1969. This paper discusses the manufacture of HWM rayon and explains how the process differs from that of regular rayon. Properties of the HWM fiber are compared to those of cotton and regular rayon.
