- Abstract
The paper introduces a new digital system meant to determine the load of ball mills, based on the analysis of the frequency spectrum of the noise produced when functioning. The signal wireless sent and produced by a noise transducer placed on the wall of the mill is processed by a PC, according to an original algorithm, which ensures a highly precise measuring of the mill load. This magnitude has to be known in order to optimally control the grinding process (of clinker in the cement industry and of ores in the mining industry). The system has been built and tested under industrial conditions, the measuring error being below 5%.
