- Abstract
This article deal with the meanings that Karabâş-ı Velî deduced from the First Four letters of the Arabic Alphabet in the light of Ibn Arabi's Perspective. By this approach, Karabâş-ı Velî tries to present the relationship between Allah, universe, human beings, and Qur'an in the eyes of the Sufis. His main argument is the wisdom of "Kuntu kanz … (I was a treasure)" reported as a sacred narration in the Sufi literature. He correlates every word of this tradition with the first four letters of the Arabic alphabet. He then shows the connection of every correlation with the stations of the body in the world of existence and then with the Sufi stations of shari'ah, sufi path (tariqa), knowledge of Allah (ma'rifah), and the Truth (haqiqah) in the world of values. Thus the author not only offers his view about existence by means of the letters of the alphabet but also looks for the foundations of people's moral ascendance in this state of existence. According to the author, the knowledge which ascends human beings can be achieved by realization of Divine attributes and names in their own existence, and the aim is a complete unification of the trinity of existence, knowledge, and value by means of this method.
