Françoise Pfaff, a pioneer of African Cinema Studies in the United States, has a foothold in three continents—Europe, North America, and Africa. The interviews held in Washington, DC, in 1997 and 2011 are even more relevant today as they present traces of the evolution of African cinema studies in the United States from the standpoint of one of the pioneering stakeholders instrumental in its developments as early as the 1970s. Françoise is professor emerita at Howard University.
