- Abstract
This article explores the antioxidant capacity of thiol-containing compounds using the photochemiluminescence technique. The study aims to determine the level of inhibition of the photochemiluminescence reaction at different concentrations. The results indicate that substances with free thiol groups have a stronger inhibitory effect on light emission compared to those with blocked or oxidized thiols. Glutathione, a well-known thiol-containing antioxidant, exhibits superior antioxidant activity across all tested concentrations. The article discusses the role of thiols as antioxidants in biological systems and their potential implications for preventing and treating diseases associated with oxidative stress. Additionally, it explores the use of the chemiluminescence technique to measure the antioxidant capacity of thiol-containing compounds.
