- Abstract
The author comments on the meta-analysis conducted by physician Colin McCannel regarding the risk of endophthalmitis for intravitreal injections and cataract surgery. Topics discussed include the role of Streptococcus bacteria for the infection, the need to improve betadine solutions to reduce the risks of infection, and various factors that should be considered to prevent infection such as handwashing and wearing caps, scrubs, and mask during intravitreal injections.
