- Abstract
In 2018, there were 115,000 syphilis cases, 35,000 of which were P&S syphilis, representing the highest number reported since 1991.[4] This poses a public health concern given this is the most infectious stage of syphilis. The incubation period of secondary syphilis can last up to 6 months.[1] After resolution of symptoms, patients enter the asymptomatic stage of latent syphilis. Based on the patient's prompt and complete resolution of symptoms after treatment, the diagnosis of syphilitic proctitis was able to be confirmed.
