- Abstract
The article discusses deinstitutionalization leading to the criminalization of mental illness and therapeutic jurisprudence recycling through the criminal justice system of persons with mental illnesses. Topics discussed include decreasing state hospital population in the U.S. attributed to deinstitutionalization, criticism of community mental health system for criminal justice professionals assuming responsibility and partnerships between criminal justice and mental health professionals.
