- Abstract
The World Health Organization and the Ministries of Health of all countries are opening the doors to complementary medicine, currently dispensing some thirty medicinal plants in Peru. The objective of the present investigation was to determine if the recommended doses of the plants that are dispensed in Social Security of Peru (EsSalud) are free of cytotoxic and genotoxic effects for human health, using for this the biological model of Allium-test . The methodology used evaluated three different variables comparing them with a control. With the results obtained, the analysis of variance and comparison test of the corresponding means were carried out, determining that none of the manifestations presented cytotoxicity and genotoxicity. Furthermore, it was determined that the variations of "chuchuhuasi" and "cat's claw" stimulate cell division of the standard standard proportions of the different mitotic periods.
