- Abstract
Cumulative impacts are 'the successive, incremental and combined impacts (both positive and negative) of an activity on society, the economy and the environment' (Franks I et al i . 2010, p. 1). Cumulative impact assessment (CIA) along with community-based, regional and participatory impact assessment is hailed as a solution the shortcomings of existing regulatory impact assessment processes (Bice 2020; Roche I et al i . 2021). Three chapters of the Handbook describe impact assessment tools that could integrate economic assessment with the social and environmental.
