- Abstract
The article focuses on English-language Indian poet and politician Sarojini Naidu (1879-1949), by considering her personal correspondence, speeches, and poetry to explore her stance on political and social issues. Other subjects considered include cosmopolitanism, Orientalism, national identity in colonial India, modernity in literature, nationalism in literature, women's rights, and her books of poetry "The Golden Threshold (1905)" and "The Bird of Time: Songs of Life, Death and the Spring (1912)."
