- Abstract
The article presents a study which founds that the idea of participation in organized tobacco control activities leads to positive youth and adult outcomes. The study aims to quantify the impact of youth participation in local tobacco control groups on the psychological empowerment of involved youth in the Statewide Youth Movement Against Tobacco Use (SYAMTU) initiative in the U.S. Researchers collected data from convenience sample of youth involved in local tobacco control efforts in 17 states. It was found that the control empowerment is critical to the development of PE characteristics.process of psychological empowerment (PE) is influenced by intrapersonal and interactional components.
