Abstract
The article presents a speech by John Gieve, deputy governor of the Bank of England, delivered at a dinner organized by Scottish Financial Enterprise and Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce held in Edinburgh, Scotland on June 12, 2006. He discussed the volatility of financial markets in the economy of Great Britain as it reflected on the conduct of its monetary policy, thus suggested a rebalancing of its global demand.
