- Abstract
The article discusses Per intubation Ventilation and Oxygenation of Acutely Ill Patients. Topics include Endotracheal intubation (ETI) in ICU patients is associated with a significant risk of adverse events such as severe hypoxemia; Preoxygenation is recommended to reduce the risk of hypoxemia; and Hyperoxia has been shown to be associated with a worsened outcome in several acute care situations like cardiac arrest, stroke, traumatic brain injury, and septic shock.
