- Abstract
The article discusses transition metals' potential to reduce resistance threats to antibiotics that render them ineffective against resistant bacteria as of March 2022. Topics covered include bacterial resistance mechanisms, metal-based compounds' higher microbial hit-rate than traditional organic compounds, and their beneficial non-harming of human cells as they kill microorganisms. Also noted is promise of combining gold nanoclusters with existing antibiotics to develop new ones.
