- Abstract
The article examines Nemmadi, a rural Business Processing Outsourcing (BPO) project in Karnataka, India. It discusses the role of the Karnataka government in the BPO project. The private sector companies involved in Nemmadi include Comat technologies, 3i Infotech and n-Logue Communication Ltd. Due to the success of Nemmadi, Comat will launch around 5,000 Rural Business Centres (RBCs) in collaboration with other state governments in India. It relates how marginalized and disabled persons were given preference in the selection process for Nemmadi.
