- Abstract
The article deals with the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the nonwoven fabric industry. It is pointed out that SMEs have difficulties keeping up with developments in the field of Industry 4.0. However, AI and Industry 4.0 can be valuable tools for optimizing production and developing new business models. The lack of sufficiently large amounts of data, high acquisition costs for digital infrastructure, and lack of experience and training in AI are mentioned as obstacles for SMEs. The article also provides recommendations for the introduction of AI in SMEs and presents some already implemented flagship projects.
