- Abstract
The article presents the jargon words used in Boonville, terms like belhoon (dollar), Tom Bacon (mustache), gorm (food), harped (talked), pike (go), boll and nonch (good and bad) and know-it-all (feather-legged). The town of Boonville is located in Anderson Valley, and 100 miles north of San Francisco. Its population, livelihood, and community structures are presented. The dialect used by Boonters is called Boontling, which evolve into new words and were soon used by almost everyone in the village.
