- Abstract
This section offers news briefs in the textile industry. According to estimates of the Union textile ministry, the global economic crisis could lead to the layoff of between 300,000 to 500,000 employees in the industry. Production capacity would be expanded by Mafatlal Industries Ltd. at its yarn died shirting fabrics manufacturing facility from 30,000 meters to 50,000 meters per day. A loss of Rs2,500 was incurred by the government organization for cotton marketing, the Cotton Corporation of India (CCI) for the year ending September 2009.
