The article discusses the meaning of the term barré, which is defined by the American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists as a pattern of continuous bars and stripes, often parallel to the filling of woven fabrics or courses in circular knit fabrics. Each barré condition has its own set of variables resulting in no standard series of tests for analysis or causes of barré. How to remedy this problem is discussed.
