- Abstract
This article presents information on several books related to operations research. Some of the books being discussed are: "Mathematical Methods of Operations Research," by Thomas L. Satty; "Dynamic Programming," by Richard Bellman; "Operations Research for Industrial Management," by Dimitris N. Chorofas; "Nonlinear Problems in Random Theory," by Norbert Wiener and "The Allocation of Economic Resources," by Moses Abramovitz. Saaty's book is divided into four main parts. Part 1 provides background and an orientation to operations research, part 2 deals with optimization techniques, part 3 discusses probability, statistics and queues and part 4 is an essay on creativity. Chorofas's book presents introductory notes on operations research principles and relevant definitions. The first part of the book deals with simulation and business gaming. The second half covers linear programming and matrix analysis. Chorofas, in this book, clearly indicates the importance of computers in experimenting with simulations.
