- Abstract
A literary criticism of the books "The Help" by Kathryn Stockett and "Can't Quit You, Baby" by Ellen Douglas is presented. It discusses themes such as the relationship between African American domestic workers and privileged white women, the Civil Rights Movement, and the role of the first person narrator vs the third person narrator. It also discusses the use of African American characters as vehicles of white redemption.
