- Abstract
The article provides a description and clarifies the diagnostic features which distinguish Patella natalensis from Patella granularis in the South African east coast. P. natalensis' shell is ovate, slightly narrowed and is light brown with black nodules. Its radula is typically docoglossate with three pairs of lateral teeth and a single rachidian tooth. It is abundant in KwaZulu-Natal, often found in rocks in the mid- to high-shore zone. The nodules on the costae are black and its foot coloration ranges from light to dark grey.
