- Authors
Young, Margaret B.; Gessner, Bradford D.
- Abstract
The article reports on the postneonatal mortality rate among native infants in Alaska from 1989 to 2009. It says that the potential risk factors for infant mortality that might be determined from information found on birth certificates were determined through prior literature review and research, which include gestational age and infant birth weight. According to the author, the overall postneonatal mortality dropped from 4.9 deaths per 1,000 births in 1989 to only 3.9 in 2009.
