- Abstract
The objective of this article is to analyze, from an anthropological conception, the process of social stratification and Protestant religious revival influenced by North American Protestantism. To achieve this analysis it is necessary to focus on the diversification of religious life in Cuba, where the American missions favored the implantation in the region of a Protestantism that privileges personal and emotional experiences over doctrinal aspects. In the development of the article, methods of theoretical level were used: analysis-synthesis, historical-logical and structural systemic; of empirical level: observation, interview, questionnaire and documentary analysis. From this we conclude that Protestantism constituted a factor of cultural change insofar as it promulgated modern values, such as the autonomy of the subject, i.e. his individualization, at the same time as it encouraged the generation of democratic spaces, such as the search for consensus within religious communities and the participation and promotion of the laity. It demonstrated the mobility and stratification of the object of study through the institutional factor of the Protestant churches, in a context of change and revival.
