- Abstract
Procedures currently employed for the serological identification of predators are reviewed. The technique of immunoelectroosmophoresis (IEO) developed for use in forensic medicine, was investigated to assess its potential for detecting natural invertebrate predators of the sheep tick Ixodes ricinus (L.). Comparisons were made between this method and three other types of precipitin tests in com- mon use. Results indicated the superiority of the immunoelectroosmophoretic technique in terms of sensitivity, clarity of results, and operational speed.
