- Abstract
This article discusses the influence of the political treatise "Common Sense," written by Thomas Paine, on the independence movement of New Spain, led by Servando Teresa de Mier during the 19th century. The authors comment on the works written by Mier, including "Historia de la Revolución en Nueva España, antiguamente Anáhuac" and "Memoria político-instructiva," both of which drew from Paine's political philosophies.
