Celebrating Native American Heritage and Culture.
- Authors
Gourley, Bruce T.
- Abstract
The author stresses the need for Baptists missionaries to focus on the heritage and culture of Native Americans when working with them. He notes that high-profile individualism is not part of the Native American culture because of their tendency to focus on community. He notes that Anglo Baptists are fearful of the Native American culture such as pow-wow. He believes that Anglo Baptists can work and establish relationship with Indians the way Baptist preacher Roger Williams befriended the Narragansetts in 1635.
