- Title
Northern Juggernaut?
- Abstract
An interview with Don Drummond is presented. He points out that while Canada may have distinguished itself from the major developed economies, its record of output during the recession was not better than that of the U.S. He notes that while the median income basically has gone nowhere in Canada, the more distressing is the fact that the income of the bottom 20% has declined substantially and continues to decline for some quite time. He cites the tendency of the Canadians to think of themselves as being very conservative and prudent concerning consumption although there has been an explosion in consumer credit in the form of lines of credit.
