Jacobson, Peter D.; Gostin, Lawrence O.
- Abstract
The authors explain how health education and primary enforcement laws can be utilized by cities, states and the U.S. federal government in their effort to avert traffic injuries and fatalities caused by electronic devices like cellular telephones, dashboard Internet and satellite connections. Findings from several studies highlighting the risks of distracted driving are presented. The authors reflect on the variations in distracted driving legislation across the U.S. They also offer an alternative solution in case the automotive industry will comply.
