- Abstract
The article explores the issue regarding sensory deprivation that could result in impaired perception in most sensory modalities owing to experience-dependent changes in neural processing. The research confirmed that the nasal passages remained open and that sniffing behavior, an important contributor to odor perception, remained stable. It also found out that there was a decrease in orbitofrontal cortex (OFC) decorrelation of odors, suggesting a potential impairment in odor discrimination.
