The mucosal pattern of the associated lIb on double contrast images was analyzed in order to define the characteristics of minimal cancer invasion. The mucosal surface of the IIb lesion presents an irregular outlined, uneven sized nodular pattern frequently associated with tiny erosions or superficial destructive changes. These minute and delicate abnormalities are demonstrated only on high quality double contrast images. Three typical cases are presented.
