- Abstract
Equine paranasal cysts are multilobed structures with an epithelial lining generally filled with fluid. Their progressive and destructive nature leads to different problems in horses, ranging from facial deformations to pressure atrophy in the maxillary molar teeth. Over time, they have gained significant importance in clinical practice. A Brazilian Sport Horse (Brasileiro de Hipismo) mare, five years old, was sent to the equine dentistry center (COE, FMVZ/USP). During the clinical examination, purulent discharge and reduced airflow were observed. A fracture of tooth 210 was evident in the oral cavity. This work describes the relevant findings in the radiographic and endoscopic examinations, the established treatment, a maxillary sinusotomy to remove the cyst, and the patient's good evolution.
