The author offers insights on the negative and positive attributes of the tendency of some leaders to resort to nonverbal communication. Topics discussed include the link between strategic silence and organizational power, the ethical decision of leaders to remain silent particularly in issues that they lack expertise to participate with authority, and the organizational values which may be learned from this silence.
