- Abstract
The article discusses research on nest disturbance, egg submergence and egg viability of a population of Elseya irwini or Johnstone River Snappint Turtle from the Wet Tropics in North Queensland. The study reports the artificial incubation of clutches of eggs that were subjected to a period of immersion in water as a result of nest disturbance by depredation. It examines the presence of abnormal scutes, signs of lethargy, lack of motor coordination when swimming and walking in the hatchlings.
