- Abstract
The article features the three Titan II intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBM) launch complexes located in Arkansas that are listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). All three sites are considered significant in the Cold War nuclear arms race between the Soviet Union and the U.S. in the 1950s. Site 374-5 in Faulkner County is described to be the best preserved among the sites operated by the 374th Strategic Missile Squadrons (SMS). Site 374-7 in Van Buren County is made up of concrete pads and earthen mounds that used to be locations of communication antennas and a fuel station. Although the subsurface of Site 373-5 in White County remained intact, it is inoperable.
