- Abstract
The article offers a report from American philanthropist Bill Gates regarding the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. He mentions the goal of the foundation which is to encourage innovation in the areas where there is less profit opportunity but where the impact for those in need is very high. He also expresses his worriment concerning the little money spent on agricultural research given the central role that food plays in human welfare and national stability. Gates further mentions the extremely important revolution based on the understanding of plant genes that is taking place in the plant sciences.
