- Abstract
The article reports on the joint venture agreement between Royal Dutch Shell and Brazilian sugarcane-to-ethanol producer Cosan in February 2010. Under the terms of the deal, Shell will contribute its Brazilian fuel distribution network and cash amounting to 1.6 billion U.S. dollars, while Cosan will contribute approximately two billion liters production capacity annually, with plans to increase. Information on the equity interests of Shell in biofuel developers, Codexis and Iogen, is presented.
