- Abstract
The article discusses the establishment of community and migration in the Soloneshnoe Region located at the south eastern part of the Russian Federation's Altai Territory. It presents the Altai Mountain District as the birthplace of the Turkic people and the tradition of the orthodox faith. It provides information regarding the significant role of the forest-steppe zones and regions in the Altai. During the end of the 19th century, the Altai Territory records an intense migration process and majority of the population were constituted by Russians. It also states the arrival of polyaks or poles, old believer groups that are said to come from Poland which later resides on the western part of the Altai Mountains during the reign of Russian Empress Catherine II in the 19th century.
