- Abstract
The article discusses the legal aspects of future-conduct releases and class-action settlements in the U.S. as of January 2013, focusing on an analysis of a proposed settlement in a copyright infringement lawsuit involving computer company Google Inc. and its Google Books service. Other topics include past-conduct settlements, compensation for harms, and American tort reform measures. The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit's ruling in an electronic database case is also examined.
