- Abstract
The article describes specimens of a yellow danburite mined from at least two steeply dipping granitic pegmatites using hand tools and explosives in Tanzania. The specimens were loaned by Mark Kaufman of San Diego, California and Werner Radl of Germany. The properties of the cut stones include light-to-medium yellow to orangy yellow and inert to both long- and short-wave ultraviolet radiation. Microscopic examination revealed long, thin, curved growth tubes as well as fingerprints that contain angular liquid inclusions.
