Bondanza, Michael
- Abstract
The author discusses some technical innovations in jewelry making. He describes jewelry making as a high-demanding craft that combines creative design with the science of metallurgy and mineralogy. Among the technical innovations are computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) software and wax printers. Jewelry makers can build parts that are precise and flawless in finish by using machines. Laser engraving is recommended when the hardness of the metal or stone does not allow the traditional methods of diamond wheel carving.
