The article discusses the history of Archbishop of Canterbury William Sancroft's filing of suit in relation to the inheritance of the books and manuscripts of the late Archbishop of Canterbury Gilbert Sheldon. Topics discussed include Sheldon's will which included his bequest of books and manuscripts to the Lambeth Palace Library, Sancroft's role in the cataloging and rebinding of the manuscripts, and the contribution of Sancroft to the library.
